Sample Activities:
For the best safari experience, we recommend you visit three or more different regions, with 2-3 nights per location. For variety, combine wet and dry camps in the Okavango, take a guided mobile tented safari deep into the bush, or combine lodge stays and mobile safaris.

Here you will find sample itineraries to jump start your trip planning. These itineraries are for the land-only portion; remember to add in the nights for your overnight flights en route and return!

Sample Itinerary 1: Chobe and the Delta

Duration (minimum): 6 nights
Locations: Okavango Delta (2 nights), Savute (2 nights), Chobe National Park (2 nights).
Activities Include: Game drives, boating & moroko rides, cruise on the Chobe riverfront, bird watching Add-on:  Victoria Falls, less than two hours away by ferry and road. Day trips can be easily arranged prior to departure or with local tour companies in Kasane.

Sample Itinerary 2:  Delta, Swamps, and Pans

Duration (minimum): 8 nights
Locations: Okavango Delta (2 nights), Savute (2 nights), Linyanti (2 nights), Makgadikgadi or Central Kalahari Game Reserve (2 nights).
Activities Include: Game drives (day and night), boating & mokoro rides, guided walks, walks with the San, visiting meerkat colonies.

Sample Itinerary 3:  Delta and Desert

Duration (minimum): 6 nights
Locations: Okavango Delta (4 nights), Central Kalahari Game Reserve or Nxai Pan National Park (2 nights
Activities Include: Game drives, boating & mokoro rides, bird watching, walks with the San, star gazing.

Try these special interest safari excursions:

Exploring the Ancient Pans
Spend time in the Makgadikgadi, a relic of Africa’s greatest “super lake” that dried up only 10,000 years ago. Here you will discover signs of the San people, interact with meerkats in their natural habitat year round, and go quad biking on the pans (seasonal). January-March brings on the wildebeest and zebra migration and nesting flamingos.
Duration: 3-4 nights
Locations: Makgadikgadi Pans

Kalahari Cultural Immersion Experience
Discover the best African/Kalahari experience with Bushmen at hand to share their knowledge. Get to know the Bushman way of life, survival and hunting skills while discovering the wildlife of the Kalahari.

Locations: Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Ghanzi area

A Capital Weekend in Gaborone
Experience an urban safari in Botswana’s capital city and surrounding villages; an interesting mix of modern ways and traditional culture and the setting for the popular mystery series, “The No. 1 Ladies’ DetectiveAgency.”  Dine out; shop; visit museums, monuments, and art galleries; golf; visit the nearby cultural village; indulge in spa services and more!
Duration: 2 nights
Locations: Capital city of Gaborone and surrounding villages

Tuli, Land of the Giants
Spectacular landscapes; rich and varied wildlife; and a host of historical, cultural and natural history attractions define this unique and ruggedly striking corner of eastern Botswana. Visit nearby villages to meet the locals and learn basket weaving. For the adrenaline junkie, try a mountain cycling safari.
Duration: (minimum): 3 nights
Locations: Northern Tuli Game Reserve, including Mashatu Game Reserve

Elephant-back or Horseback Safari
Always wanted to experience the thrill of game viewing from the back of a large animal? A few camps and outfitters in Botswana offer this thrilling experience.
Duration: 3-6 nights
Locations: Elephant-back safaris are offered only at Abu Camp in Okavango Delta. Horseback safaris are for experienced equestrians only and are available in Makgadikgadi Pans, Tuli, and the Okavango Delta.
